Scouting couldn't happen without our volunteers, they're fantastic! For Volunteer's week 2017, we decided to talk to a few of them to find out why they volunteer and what they get out of it. If you're interested in volunteering, why not have a look at some of the benefits, you can also email us at email@example.com and we will help you find a role.
Cub Scout Leader
How long have you been volunteering for?
I have been volunteering for 4 years.
How did you get involved and what inspires you to volunteer in Scouting?
I was a Guide when younger and loved everything that stood for. I enjoy camping and the outdoors. I spoke to a friend and was introduced to Scouting.
What are your favourite things about Scouting?
The energy of the Cubs is so positive and inspires me every meeting.
What positive impact do you believe you have on young people through volunteering?
Hopefully to tell them they can do/be anything they want to with hard work. Also to teach them respect for flag break and maybe some other old fashioned values.
What advice would give anyone looking to join Scouting?
Just do it, it is great fun!
How do you believe you have benefited by volunteering for Scouting?
It keeps me young and up to date...who knew fidget spinners were really relaxing?
