The perfect 1 day course to introduce children & teenagers to powerboating!
This is a one day course, designed for children between the ages of 8-15 years old, who wish to learn how to safely and confidently drive a powerboat in the Bristol Historic floating harbour.
The course begins at HQ covering the theory on board a powerboat, including preparation of the rib and crew and safety on board. We then head out onto the water to the floating harbour, where the students will practice slow speed manoeuvring.
This gives the students the opportunity to drive into the centre of Bristol by boat and practice mooring at the many pontoons and landings around the harbour (it is also good for sightseeing locations such as the SS Great Britain and the M-shed).
By the end of the course, candidates will be presented with a RYA Level 1 Powerboat certificate, which will enable them to drive any motor driven vessel up to 10 meters in length, in daylight conditions and in inland waterways, provided they are accompanied by an adult. Once candidates reach 16 years old, they no longer need to be accompanied.
This is the perfect course to kickstart enthusiasm in the marine industry and this useful qualification is valid for life once issued.
Usually the course is £180 per student, but if you were to get a group of 6 young people over the age of 8 together, then we could get this arranged for £300 in total (so £50 per student).
