On Friday 17th November eleven brave Scouts and two Leaders of 1st Blagdon brought their cardboard boxes to Blagdon Baptist Church garden and constructed sleeping places with sleeping bags and bits of plastic. After the visit of a ‘charity soup kitchen’ provided by Scouts not able to sleep out, they settled down to a night of broken sleep, not helped by the gentle drizzle which reduced their boxes to mush. One Leader slept without his sleeping bag, just a box – he was c-c-cold!
Sitting on the pavement by the shop in the morning, with a begging note, produced over £100 from the shopping public. Scouts looked a damp and unwashed sight. Thank you to those who donated. Thank you too to Graham for providing support for us outside the shop and other neighbours who suffered any extra noise. 1st Blagdon have been raising funds for ‘Coram’, the Children’s Charity which helps homeless teenagers find a safe place to live.
A whopping £800 has been raised so far, any one wanting to make a donation, please contact Pip Riley of 1st Blagdon.
