Over the last 18 months the Scout Association has been working on transforming our volunteer experience. The transformation has focused on changing four key areas which are designed to improve the volunteer experience.
These are
- In line with Charity Commission guidance moving from Executive Committees to Boards of Trustees for each Group and at District level (This has already been implemented across the District)
- A new welcome process for attracting new volunteers replacing the old appointment process.
- Moving to a Team Structure and simplifying volunteer role titles.
- Introduction of a new membership and learning application for all adult volunteers.
More details regarding the changes can be found here
On November 28th 2024 we will start to adopt the new processes and system across the District.
The new ‘My Membership’ application will have a staggered Go-live as follows –
- 28 November: Transformation Leads and District Lead Volunteers invited.
- 1 December:All Group Lead Volunteers invited.
- 2 December:All members invited.
Invitation emails will be sent out to all adult volunteers with details of how to login and set your password. Once logged in please check your details, you will be able to change some details on your account if you notice anything that needs updating.
Familiarisation training on the new application is being run by the Scout Association. You can check dates/times and register for the training here – Register for training ahead of Go-Live
There are two training sessions, part 1 is recommended for all members and part 2 is recommended for Lead Volunteers, Team Leaders, Volunteers with Accreditations (e.g. Nights Away Adviser) and Chairs.
Local support is also available. If you have any questions regarding any of the new processes or new membership system please submit your query using the form below. Please also use this form if you have any issues and need support when the new system comes online.
Things to note after Go-Live
- All volunteers will need to complete updated Safety training by July 2025. Expiry dates will be updated in the new membership system in January 2025.
- We will start to use the new Nights Away notification process in the new ‘My Membership’ system. The current NAN form on the Distrcit Website will be switched off. (You should continue to use the website for submitting Activity Notifications)
